Penrose Tiling

Named after the mathematician and physicist Roger Penrose, this tiling is aperiodic, meaning that the tiles on the plane do not contain arbitrarily large repeating patches. The tiling is typically formed with only 2 shapes, a kite and dart. If the visualisation does not load, please refresh the page. For more information check out this Veritasium video.

"It is always the case, with mathematics, that a little direct experience of thinking over things on your own can provide a much deeper understanding than merely reading about them."
